Most weapons in Fortnite have been nerfed and buffed many times over the years, but not grenades. Now, five years later, Fortnite’s grenades are doing the same amount of damage to players and buildings as they always did. So far, Epic has released their first nerf in 5 years.
Over 5 years, grenades deal 100 damage per direct hit. It’s actually a small miracle that Epic Games has addressed this issue for the first time since 2018. Even the most accurate grenade attacks now only do 40 damage, so you don’t have to rely on them as much anymore.
Even using them to knock down buildings won’t be easy anymore. The nerf to building damage is even bigger. Grenades previously did 375 damage on impact to buildings. That impressive number has now dropped to a low 75. Good news for those who like to hide in towering structures.
Grenade-throwing players aren’t the only ones hit hard by the latest nerf. The damage the Heavy Sniper can do to buildings has also been significantly reduced, but as far as Fortnite data miners can tell, high pex and iFireMonkeyHeavy duty guns still pack the same amount of punch when used on rival players.
Previously, it did 690, 660, 630 and 600 damage to buildings depending on weapon level from Mythic to Rare. . Again, the numbers in descending order correspond to the sniper level in use.
All of the above can be the rage now if you rely heavily on grenades and snipers. Otherwise, when you’re stuck somewhere on an island in Fortnite, you can relax a little easier. Now that both weapons have less impact on buildings, even those who like them will use them a lot less, even if they take a direct hit.
Fortnite’s grenades and sniper rifles aren’t the first weapons to receive newsworthy downgrades so far in 2023. The Mythic Shotgun was so powerful not too long ago that it could take out a player with one well-placed shot. It was nerfed right after it was added, but still packs a huge punch.
