Starfield gets a dedicated Direct as part of the Xbox Games Showcase next month. I usually watch it on Twitch or YouTube, but if you can go to the cinema and sit down with popcorn and a Coke, it will be shown in select theaters thanks to a collaboration with event company Fathom.
As reported by PCGamesN, a trip to the cinema to watch Starfield Direct is completely free, and you’ll even get $10 worth of free snacks. However, you must register for the Xbox Fanfest by May 31st to take part in the deal. You will then receive an email with your ticket number and location on June 1st.
This is likely not a global event, so if you’re in the UK like me, odds are you won’t have the honor of having the giant Todd Howard take us to the giant galaxy of Starfield. Fathom primarily operates in North America, but for those in the US, there’s a chance to see a stream dedicated to Bethesda’s first single-player outing since Fallout 4 on the big screen.
The ticket site itself kicks off on June 2nd at 7am PST / 10am EST so if you’re eligible and signed up and ready, you can get your spot. Not sure if you can flag Starfield Direct in Letterboxd though. Write down 2001 Space Odyssey or Interstellar. Close enough?
It’s not yet clear what we’ll see in Direct. It’s likely that Howard will reveal more of the story and gameplay, and will probably dig deeper into exploration, shipbuilding, and combat. Long wait to find out. The Direct takes place on June 11th at 10am PST / 1pm ET, so we’re only a few weeks away. After that, the wait time for release is also not very long. Starfield releases on September 6th for Xbox and PC.
Interestingly, thanks to the new ESRB tier, we learned that Starfield can earn you cosmic mile high club points. It was initially reported that sex is not possible in the game, but now it appears to be possible thanks to a new dialogue that suggests the player character to use a jetpack. I doubt they’ll ever show us anything explicit on the silver screen, but maybe Howard will finally clear the air.
